We welcome award winning quilter Deborah Louie to our store over the 8th, 9th & 10th March. Deborah is an award winning quilter who specialises in quilting on Domestic Sewing Machines and she has tailored her classes to suit our store.

Want to learn to quilt your
own quilts and don’t know where to start?

Deborah will take you through every practical step to quilting your own masterpieces. “I will share with you all of my experience of quilting more than 500 quilts and 12 years of teaching this very sensible and very popular approach to domestic machine quilting.”

There will be a 2-Day workshop and a 1-Day Workshop offered, both workshops offering different and progressive techniques. You can start with the 2-Day then finish up on the 1-Day for a complete learning experience.

Binding Just Got Better!

Monday 12th - EVOLUTION DAY - Cheryl will be running this FREE CLASS for our customers who purchased the impressive Babylock EVOLUTION at the show! 9.30 – 12.30
Tuesday 13th – EMBROIDERMANIA – this is a fun do-what-you-like embroidery day for anyone who wants to jump into a bigger machine embroidery project but is a little nervous about going it alone. Cath will be there to give you a hand. 9.30 – 12.30
Wednesday 14th – EQ7 WORKSHOP – Danielle will take you through the trickier aspects of this powerful quilt designing program. 9.30 – 12.30
Thursday 15th – SNEAK PEEK – our chance to show off our Term 1 Classlist for 2012! Come along to this FREE day to see the huge variety of class projects in person, and then get in first with your bookings. We have 2 Sessions are available – 9.30 – 11.30am or 6.30 -8.30pm. Still room if you’d like come – just give us a call or email.
Saturday 17th – QUATTRO CLUB – this is a specail UPGRADE DAY free to everyone who purchased the latest Brother QUATTRO upgrades from us! This project will be fun and you’ll be impressed with what your machine can now do! 9.30 – 12.30
Saturday 17th – 5D EXTRA – in this regular class, Cath will take you through the full range of tools this popular embroidery software program has! 1 – 3.30

Cheryl’s July Sewing Club Project- the Brag Album used sewn-in clear vinyl to make lovely display pockets for your pictures. We now have Clear Vinyl available by the metre.

At 137 centimetres wide and $17.95 a metre, vinyl adds versatility to your sewing projects. Try using it to make cute totes, picture cushions, recipe book covers, or accessory bags! Use your Roller or Teflon Foot to get great results.

Sewing Support for Cancer…

Yesterday Sew This & That held another of our popular Breast Cancer Support Sewing Days where a bunch of enthusiastic volunteers braved the wet weather and came along to give their time to sew up medical support bags and cushions to donate to local cancer care centres. The opportunity to sew your support is always a fun day, and help was contributed by cutting, sewing and cushion stuffing, the donation of materials, and even in the baking of delicious Red Velvet cupcakes. Keep an eye out in our next Classlist for our 2012 day, and remember – you can help all day, or for just half an hour and if you can’t spare the time, we happily accept fabric donations.

This year we finished 48 pretty bags to help make things a little more comfortable for those needing support. A big thank you to all of our volunteers – see you again next year!

Christmas Party 2011

2011 Customer Christmas Party?

Wtih less than a month until our party, we are now asking for all bookings to be confirmed. Tickets are $49.50 and can be paid either in person or over the phone, and need to be received by 18th November so that we can make our final preparations for the evening.

In the store, we are all busy organizing the evening’s prizes and are pleased to boast that this year’s are looking like our best yet! Here is a reminder of the events we have planned for the evening…

Lucky Door Prize!
We are saving our biggest prize for the door this year and everyone will have a chance to win it. More than just a prize draw, this year’s winner will still be chosen at random, with the process a little more fun than just drawing a name out of a hat!

Club Re-Creations!
We know that there is plenty of you who like to re-create the Club Projects and here is your chance to show them off and win some fantastic prizes. Bring in your masterpiece – a project that has used a club technique but has not been made into the actual club project, and our judges will pick their favourite – and don’t panic…we are looking for creativity not perfection!
Entries for this need to be in the store by
27th November, there will be two categories one for Sewing and one for Embroidery Club projects.

Embellish Your Blouses!
Festive-up your favourite blouse or T-shirt with a Christmas theme and wear it on the night to be in the running to win. Decorate it in any way that you like - embroidery, appliques, dyes, fabric paints, buttons…the list is endless but as long as it’s your creation then its your entry!
The winner will be picked on the night.

Best Bag is Back!
Bring your best bag made by you and you could be a winner. Not having to have a Christmas theme, we just want you to show off your handbag creations, and the most creative will win!

Going, Going…Gone!
The high-light of every year’s Christmas Party has been our auction. Using ST&T Auction Dollars collected in October and November, and on the night, you can bid on lots of great sewing stuff to take home. This year we will be adding a new twist for collecting even more auction dollars to spend, and we will have lots more smaller prizes so that everyone gets a chance to have a bid and some fun.

We also have our “how well do you know the ST&T team” competition - lets see how good your guessing skills are this year!

The Christmas celebrations will start at
6pm on Friday 2nd December.

Machine of the Week…

Everyone is loving the new Bias Maker from Simplicity. This fantastic little machine does all of the hard work to make perfect bias! A variety of optional extra tips vary from neat little 1/4 inch bias through to half fold for binding, and all you have to do is cut the strips and join them. The machine does the rest – no more burnt fingers or metres of bias piled up on the floor around your ironing board!!

As mentioned above the 1/4″ tip is now available and we have a preliminary order being delivered as we speak. If you already own the Bias Maker, then Contact Us if you want one put aside!
