In response to customer feedback, Sew This and That gave Sunday trading a 6 month trial.  Time has flown by and this trial period has come to an end.  We have decided that we will not be continuing with Sunday trading, and will be returning to our previous 6 day operating business hours.  Jo will still run classes from time-to-time on a Sunday, but this will be done with the store closed.

At Sew This and That, we are big believers in listening to what our customers want, and are always ready to try something new.  Often this is something that works, and sometimes it isn’t.  Sadly, Sunday trade is one of those things that didn’t work out, and Sunday 26th February will be our last one.  We will continue to trade until 9pm on Thursday nights, and 9am to 4pm Saturdays.  See you then!

The clever people at Sewline products have been at it again – their latest innovation filling a gap that has been bothering all patchworkers for a while.  The Duo are a pair of pens – one a pen giving clear and sharp markings on cotton fabrics, the other is the eraser armed with a special fluid that will remove the pen with a simple stroke action that doesn’t damage the fabric.  This means that you can instantly remove your quilting guidelines without having to make anything wet.  A great tool for machine embroidery, dressmaking and hand sewing also.  The Sewline Duo is in store now!

Our machine technician walked past Cheryl’s ‘Lets Get Leafy’ Overlocked Wall Hanging class and said “Wow – have these really been made on an overlocker?”  Cheryl is our overlocker and coverstitch expert and she has a great creative flair for doing more with your overlocker than just super-quick seams!  Check out how delighted Rebecca is with her finished project.  Everything was done on her overlocker.  If you missed this class – keep an eye out for it in our next Classlist!

Cheryl spent January planning this year’s Sewing Club Projects and she’s all organized and ready for 2012.  Sewing Club Demonstration Days for February are Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th (held first Thursday and First Saturday of each month).  Starting at 9.30am, demonstration mornings are 2 hours of education and entertainment, with Cheryl teaching you how to do the technique that she has used for her Sewing Club Project while you are getting to know other sewing enthusiasts.  If you’ve purchased a machine from us in the last 12 months, then you’ll be a Sewing Club Member (feel free to call us to find out if you aren’t sure) - come along and learn something new.  No need to book or to bring your machine for this one.  Just come along – Free to All Club Members.  Remember…BEGINNERS WELCOME!
